JOAN BAEZ RETURNS TO CHARTS AFTER NEARLY 30 YEARS;DAR WILLIAMS ENTERS TOP 100 WITH HIGHEST CHARTING ALBUM

BAEZ AND WILLIAMS ON TOUR THIS FALL

(New York, NY) - A legendary artist and one of today's most accomplished singer songwriters had historic chart debuts this week. Joan Baez' first release for Razor & Tie Entertainment, DAY AFTER TOMORROW, marks her return to the charts after a 29 year absence, entering the Billboard Top 200 Album chart at #128. Williams' latest album, PROMISED LAND, has her returning at #95 on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart, representing the highest charting album of her career.

The success of both albums can be attributed to significant media exposure, strong online presence, grassroots marketing, and devoted fanbases. Both artists have been engaging audiences for years with their folk-inspired music and dedicated social and political activism.

Joan Baez's 24th studio album and first album since 2003 was produced by the acclaimed Steve Earle. Day After Tomorrow (Bobolink/Razor & Tie) continues Baez's role as a musical curator and interpreter of songs and includes material by Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Patty Griffin and Earle himself. Highlights on the record include the Tom Waits-penned title track "Day After Tomorrow," the Academy and Grammy Award-nominated song "Scarlet Tide," written by Elvis Costello and T-Bone Burnett and "God is God," written by Steve Earle especially for the project. The album has received rave reviews from Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, New Yorker, Paste Magazine and Joan appeared on NBC's The Today Show as well as NPR's Weekend Edition. Baez can be seen in October on the Charlie Rose Show and will begin a nationwide tour in support of the release (please see dates below). She is also receiving the Americana Music Association Freedom of Speech Award tonight in Nashville.

Dar Williams' first album of original material in over three years was produced by Brad Wood (Pete Yorn, Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins) and features 12 reflective and witty songs. Her first single, "It's Alright" continues to climb the chart at Triple A radio, currently #4 on R&R Indicator Chart and #4 on FMQB Top 200 Chart. The album features two intriguing covers; "Midnight Radio" from the acclaimed rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and Fountains of Wayne's "Troubled Times." Williams' has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, Paste Magazine, Performing Songwriter and will be featured on NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday September 28th. She just kicked off a Fall tour with Shawn Mullins as main support (please see dates below).

This week Razor & Tie Entertainment, the #1 independently-owned label in the United States, boasts four titles on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. The gold-certified soundtrack to ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS holds firm at #153, quickly approaching platinum certification. At #58 is the latest KIDZ BOP title, KIDZ BOP 14, the title is also #3 on the Children's chart.
